You know you guys of coarse your friends will think its great cause they don't know any difference???  :dunno: If it was so great how come in the land of Salmon the winner of the Anchorage state fair every year is smoked King??? If you had them all lined up on a table you as outdoorsman would pick the King, Coho or possibly the Sockeye every time ... I doubt very much any of you would pick the Chum as the best smoked fish on the planet. Does that mean it doesn't smoke well at times? NO! Does that mean it's no good at times? NO!

The bottom line is if you smoke a turd ... it's still a turd!  :crap:

I'm going to try that someday just to prove you right. I'll be sure to put some liquid smoke on it as well. :chuckle:

Smoked alot of it myself.  It eats just fine if its fresh.   Want to see something cool, fillet one and stick it in the freezer.  The glands continue to secrete mucous and it will form a green mucous booger layer on it that is just lovely.  LOL

Takes the same amount of time to whack a silver, this time of year.

Surly to taste better......You will be surprised, especially if you compare it to chum.

I've thought about keeping a couple of dog hens for the eggs and then try to give the fish away but I dont know anybody I dislike enough to try and give them a chum.

oh cmon guys, if they're bright they really aren't bad eating.

a little wisdom:  a lot of people that don't care for the stronger tasting salmon(chinook especially) really like chums.  i've never had problems giving the meat away, if i don't eat it myself.

of course, i live out in the harbor now where the chums sort of seem to be going extinct...i haven't caught a single one this year!
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

If I was going to eat one it would be from this river. The only Chums that are actually bright and allot of guys mistake them for silvers.

They ain't  bad smoked if they are in good shape to start.

Like Salami said would rather eat a silver!! But fishing isn't always about getting something to eat. Useally it's just about having a good time with a friend.
