Quantity or Quality?

Alright, once again we had an arguement at work(too much time on our hands) anyway, would you rather be a hunter who as killed lots of bucks(but nothin huge) or somebody who has only killed a couple, but the couple you have are monsters? at first i said Quantity, but now that i think about it, im goin with Quality, what about YOU guys???

SIZE MATTERS!!!!!!......only those that have small horns ever say the opposite.  Show me one person who says "I hunt for the meat" admit they would shoot the smaller horned buck/bull even if the body was larger.  Never happened to me yet.

it is more quality for me i am a trophy hunter when it comes to deer. and a meat hunter when it comes to elk.  :jacked:but with the dam fish and wildlife pulling all there *censored* with cougars and wolves and not doin a piss of a thing with all the problems and adding more to it, i will be damed if i let another deer tag go in the shreader they will be used if they want to feed them to the preditors. i might just as well eat them over them

I like big animals as much as the next guy but I like the process of hunting and tagging animals.  I like the post hunt cutting, wrapping, cooking, jerking, etc. too.  It extends the hunt well into the off season and I feel that I enjoy the fruits of the hunt long after the day of the kill.  I'd like to think that someday I'll have more time dedicated to hunting, which will enable me to balance big with filled tags, but for now, I'd have to say I'm an opportunist hunting to my own standards.  

For example, I had my Oregon coast elk hunt cut short after day 2.  Day 1 I passed a 12 foot shot at a broadside 3x3 bull.  Out of state tags are hard to pass on but I had a full 7 days ahead.  10 miles back in there, rutting herd bulls, and the whole nine.  Day 2, I learned my daughter was ill so I had to bail.  No regrets on that little bull because my standards were 5pt or better.  Nothing wrong with that 3x3, but I didn't want to end my hunt with a small bull on day 1.  At any given moment of a hunt I know immediately if I'm going to pass or attempt to get a shot.  It's just a situational deal for me.

Should have been with me when I shot the 32 inch bull moose over the 55-58 inch bull. Why? Because I had a shot on the smaller one that I was comfortable with and I knew there was a slight possibility the way the larger one was it might get wounded. Now I could have sat there and let the scenerio unfold and see if the bigger horned one would give me a shot, or if they were both going to walk into the willows to never be seen again. So I did the best thing in my mind and shot the smaller one, filled the freezer and I still got a trophy to me out of it.

Quality is in the eye of the beholder..a "monster buck" to some is just and average buck to others.  I am all about the hunt.  I relish it more than the kill.   The experiences I have had with some small bucks are worth more than some of the hunts I had with my biggest.

Man that poll is black or white    I've progressed from quantity to quality over the years, but I'm not dead set on BIG unless I have a special tag and/or enough time to make good on it.

I'm not ashamed to say that i will shot the first legal buck i see. and have no problem with puyying in for and harvesting a doe.

 

Like posted earlyier, you can't eat antlers.........

And I have shot the big doe, versas a spike deer.

thats a hard one but i would say both
