Nice hunt! couple questions for you... how old is your kid and dog? What's your take on small children and getting a puppy? My dalmatian died last Jan and my son was born in May. I was thinking once he's old enough to talk maybe I'd get a new pup to train that can grow with him.

Nice pics, love the one with the dog and the gun.

Dustin, just a thought, dogs' tails are just the right height to smack little kids in the face.  This does not help endear the kid to the dog.  My 6 year old is not a big fan of our 7 year old golden.  Might help to start with a smaller puppy though when the boy is a bit older than mine was.    :twocents:

I'll buy breakfast for a snow goose hunt....

we have an italian greyhound now, small dog for a tiny kid. my son loves him and his eyes follow him everywhere, he reaches out to grab him whenever he can. the dog seems to really like the boy too, but i'm careful not to leave them alone together, ever. you never know... as much as I love dogs, they are still unpredictable.

also, I'd buy breakfast AND a box of shells for a goose hunt  :P

LongTat pm me before you go the guide route for snows. Dustin have always had large dogs around my boy. We had 145lbs mutt that you didn't dare yell at the boy cause he would come lay down infront of him an growl at who was yelling LOL miss that ole guy. My boy is 9yrs and my pup is almost 3yrs old. I'd say when you feel comfortable dealing with pup and kid out hunting. Also we have a 6yrs old lab to that is my sons dogs, who we rescued when she was 3yrs old and trained her. My favorite pic was Annabelle resting her head on my gun. For some reason that is her pillow when we are out hunting, has done that ever since I got her at 2mths old. Lol, she does it at home too!! Michealj ya pretty much hide in the ditchs an got them coming into the flock on the ground..

those are great pics! and a good story to boot ;) I noticed her head on the stock of the gun and thought that was pretty neat. Thanks for the feedback. I can't wait to bring dogs into my son's life, I hope they mean as much to him as he grows up as they did for me.

Yeah wouldn't know what to do with out my dog as he would with his dog! They have more than one use that's for sure. Having my son with me reminds me of being with my Dad at his age! Dear Ole Dad pasted away a week before Christmas last year, but atleast he got to spend a few years hunting with his grandson and seeing his accoplishments.
