there's been elk at the 18/90 junction for years. a couple years ago there was a nice 5x5 bull hanging out there eating all the new flowers and grass the DOT planted.

Ya lots of car/elk accidents that way.  Not to long ago maybe a month a nice 5X5 had to be put down on Issaquah Hobart.

Mind the GMU boundary there, only the SW corner of that intersection is open for elk in the late season.

454 - Issaquah.
There's some DNR parcels in the area, a lot of drug activity next to the highway though.

the elk herd off of issaquah hobart road is known locally as the peacock herd. mr peacock lives on the road that goes from the hobart firestation back to hwy 18 down the hill in a big hole. you will see his place as he has a huge lodgepole game fence around his yard. not sure if he give permission to hunt but i understand his land has been in the family for a hundred years and may know who does.

not really, there are a lot of new homeowners in the area that may or may not have realized the elk herd was there and what kind of damage they do to there precious flower beds. also, alot of the longtime owners are getting up in age and could use some help around the property. "sure you can hunt if you help me stack this pile of wood in the barn" might work, might not but I do know that this herd is very hard to hunt as it may stay on one property for days before it moves on. even if you have permission to hunt it would suck to watch them hang out on a neighbors property for 3 days while your season ticks down. Permission this year or at least the contact may very well help for next year.
