Montana rut Dad/Son smackdown

Just got back from Montana with my oldest son, Luke, elkaholic123 (Jerry) and his son Brandon. We went four for four. All I have right now are my pic's. Second day, half hour before dark me and Luke spotted a buck in it's bed across the draw from us, ranged it at 266 yards. I settled into my shooting sticks and put one through his chest. He never got up.(he tried to get his feet under him, but a quick second shot anchored him). Over 32 years of successful hunting, and this is the first time I have shoot a deer in it's bed. Pretty cool! Hard to see all the extra points in the pictures, but if you count them all up he is a 10x7! He is also my first non typical. Next evening, 35 minutes before dark I spotted a beautiful 4x4 buck in the bottom of a draw. Ranged him at 208 yards. Luke has killed several does on youth hunts (he is only 16, you wouldn't know it from the pictures... kid is bigger than me already), but he has never got a buck. One clean miss, and the buck held tight-didn't budge. Must have been buck fever. He jacked in another round, and made a perfect shot, dropping the buck in his tracks. I couldn't be prouder! It is one heck of a buck for a first! Both of our deer had to be packed out in the dark back to camp (with help from Jerry and Brandon) on our packframes. Good times! This will be a hunt that Luke and I will always remember! I will let Jerry add his pics and story to this post, or start his own.

Thanks! He was REALLY pumped! How long have you been calling big bucks 'mashers'? We have called them that for quite some time, but I don't here that term used very often.
