mixed Deer Season results
« on: November 25, 2009, 11:32:22 AM »
Well, a new job has both kept me out of the field and off the board - just to slammed.

Washington was not kind to me in the three days i was able to be out hunting, but my Dad and i did get a couple of decent Mulies in Wyoming (I made sure when I took the job that I could take 2 days to hunt with Dad-that annual trip is a top priority!)

We went in early October.  It was 16 degrees with 30 mph sustained wind on the tops of the hills and gusts over that.  I snuck around a ridge line and managed to get a 75 yard shot on mine, and Dad took an amazing 325 yard shot from the top of a hill into a valley to get his-not too bad for a guy pushing 74 with two new knees and a new ankle!  Note the blond shoulder on his buck.  kinda odd.

We did Pronghorn the day before.  Slim pickings this year due to a spring storm that put the hurt on the prongs-we normally have 200 to 500 animals to look over.  I think we saw 40.  The weather was much nicer that day! limited wind and temps in the 20's with some sun.

Those are great looking animals, way to go! I agree that is a very interesting mark on your dad's buck. I've never seen one with blonde like that. Where abouts in Wyoming were you guys hunting?
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

He is having the hide tanned due to the unusual blond spot.

We were North of Gillette, near a place (I hesitate to call the two buildings a town) called Spotted Horse if you know the area.
