Reloading info needed 338-378
« on: December 01, 2009, 10:45:49 AM »
A friend of mine is reloading for the 338-378 and we are having a hard time with it.  We have tried retumbo, rl 25 and a couple others.  Tried mostly accubonds.  Anyone out there have some pet loads? The gun is a factory accumark.

Thanks in advance.

AR's load data is hot, all of it is a little over book max so if your going to use it back off a ways for starting loads.
I've only played with one 338-378 and it had a 30" custome bbl. 119gr of AA 8700 under a 250gr SGK for 3100fps. This load is warm, primer pockets get lose after a couple of fireings but it was supper accurate and fast.

try reloadersnest.com.  Good info there.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

I have a 378-338 and it shoots great. I use 117.2 grains of 8700 and use 250 grain sierra game kings. I have a son I reload for and 2 friends and that is what we all use. cci large rifle primers. 378 weatherby cases. Our guns were built by Dave at Daves Harbor Guns and that is the load he gave us.

Is the taste of the bait worth the sting of the hook twice?
