Stainless Barrel work

Seasons over, bored, tired of that bright fluted barrel. thinking about having it dipped, even thinking about powder coating, wondering about staining options too, got alot into this custom gun, figure i'll add a little more. anyone have some experience in the above options.

Bead blast it. If not dull enough, then sand blast it.  If not perfect, have it spiral fluted. All kinds of things you can do with SS. Coating it... You'll be mad when it does scratch or chip.

I'd have it bead blasted or maybe charicoated.

I put the Lauer Weaponry Dura-coat on my favorite AR and it rocks! My gunsmith Larry at Classic Precision did the job Lots of colors and patterns to choose from price is $100-$150 depending on what you want, it's a very durable finish and looks great.

Thanks Guys, appreciate it. i didn't think of bead or sand blasting, infact i even have access to one, to do this myself. will have to study on it, blasting may be the best bet. before i proceed, other than the obvious, is there any precausions i should be aware of other than protection of certain areas.

Well. Obviously it would be best to remove the barrel from the action. If you do that.. You might want a target crown reamed too. Liberal use of tape! Don't hit the threads or the crown.

I would glass bead it first. Then 'maybe' sand blast it with fine sand if that isn't rough enough.

lightly tap a fishing weight (football shaped one) into the end of the barrel to protect the crown better, then tape it off or RTV it.
once getting the lead started into the bore (breech end) use a wooden dowel as a punch to ceit it in place.

there is also heat treating and acid work that can be done to it to make it a bitchin looking rifle.

I love this rifle. the trigger is very light too. dont touch it unless you plan on firing it lol! Its sportered, i want to hunt with it some day. 7.65x53 argentine.
The fireball that comes out of this rifle is awsome.

Here's what I do. Remove scope, remove from stock , tape the crown and trigger, aplly two coats Krylon camo paint. Easy, cheap, and easily removed. I can do pics later if anyone is interested.

you could send it to shawn carlock at defensive edge in rathdrum id. he bulids custom long range rifles and he has done alot of work for me and i have been more than happy.
