well i already have a .270 and if I am going to change i think i should change big. not slight
So there's nothing wrong with your current Remington 700 in 270? If not, then yeah I wouldn't go to the expense of changing it to a 280. I thought maybe the barrel needed replacing anyway, in which case it would make sense to go with a 280 Rem since you'd be getting the barrel for free.
