Val's 390 class Blue Mountain Bull Elk

Hey folks thought you might enjoy this.

 A customer of mine found theses sheds on his property and wanted them mounted. I'm not an official scorer but like most of you can get a pretty good idea of gross scores. I taped the left side at 179 and the right at 175 and change. Now realizing that they are sheds i estimated a 36in inside spread that I felt was pretty conservative. By my estimation that ranges this bulls score at about 390 and I would bet the spread was a little wider than I gave them  credit for but due to the conventional shed mounting system I was constraint by design. 

These were on the ground about 7 months before Val found them so I know the colore looks a little dark. Most of the brow tines were missing (chewed) and allot of the left main beam. I had to color them a little darker than I would have liked to hide the repairs.

I think sheds get a 40" credit for elk

 Thanks and I think your right on the 40 inch credit I have mounted elk with spreads as high as 50 inches and as low as 30. When mounting sheds spread is a subjective issue. I start at 36 and see how they look and go from there.
With a 40 inch credit theses sheds are getting dangerously close to 400 gross

its about time you got that mount posted on here, dang fine animals on the eastside! I am pumped everytime I see the work you and your fellow mounters turn out! If there was one thing I would love to learn, its hides and feathers and paying due's to the dead! Yall rock! I cant wait to see my mulie, antelope, and bear rug! JEFF RULES!!!! I drive all the way from darn LONG BEACH just to have him do my work.... cant wait man! Just hope you can repair the damage to my bear rug the cat did! I HATE CATS!!! WELL YOURS are pretty cool, even the mounted ones.... but only yours!
