Finally got some geese with some size. been shooting all the little cacklers all year. the big ones just moved in. perfect timing for the morning.  ;)

no its was one shade off of a vancouver and the bill was 59.5 mm....not even close on the dusky size.

most duskies will also not have near as sharp a break in color from the black to the neck to the chest.

Alright guys, not to hijack this thread but I have grown up on the east coast shooting nothing but canadians. I can tell with geese going over from the calls they are replying with what is not normal for me but honestly how do you guys tell the difference ( besides obvious size difference) between the dusky, canadians and cacklers. Sorry if its a stupid question but I haven't shot a goose here in four years out of fear of doing the wrong thing. Little help would be awesome. THX

I just took the goose ID test.  I passed but I have to agree with nchaput, it seems near impossible to be 100% sure on goose ID.  I guess like everything else it comes with experience.
