bearsnak, gimme a break! Read the posts. These guys are not against you or your sport. They simply ask that you follow the rules. The law. If you know your hounds are chasing a cat, when the ain't supposed to, knock it off. You know damn well what is going on. You just choose to ignore the law, and screw the other hunters. These guys have simply adjusted, so that they can legally call in cats, and then here comes your freaking dog pack, stirring up the entire section they are calling in. What do you expect them to do, be happy with you for screwing up their legal hunt? Pull your head out.

Disregard for your image is probably one of the reasons that folks in this state voted against your type of hunting. Try to project a good image, one of legal guy doing legal thing, who cares about others, and maybe your sport will recover.

This may come out wrong  but take it with a grain of salt. We have a wide range of hunting here is Washington and NOT sure but it is not illegal to track animals so if someone says that they are doing that we have to take there word until proven wrong. So if someone comes thru your stand it is not illegal so be it. Is how I feel.
I would agree....That is as long as they werent purposefully trying to snoop in on you? I have walked in on other hunters before and i say woops to myself turn around and walk a different direction. I really trey to have an over abundance for hunters in the fiels because i think that if i treat another hunter with respect that next time he walks up on another person he will do the same. show that person respect?

But yes like you were saying there are alot of trails out there and alot of hunters. accidents happen. that is part of playing the game....Its all in how you adress the situation when you walk up to it!!!

Apparently you have the wrong opinion or idea of what I (and a few others) are trying to say. If the season is open and you are legally chasing legal animals then go for it. Bring me along, I would love to do it.

But if you are chasing cats or bears and skirting (read breaking) the law, or pleading ignorance by saying you are chasing "coyotes" or "coons" up in the high country then I have a problem with that.

I am not saying that you are chasing cats and calling them coyotes, but you and I both know there are guys that do. They are the ones ruining the reputation of hound hunters.

AJ - while your post rings true, that is not what this is about. This is basically similar to a rifle hunter illegally shooting elk from the same herd of that you are legallyhunting with archery equipment. I have had plenty of hunters come into the area I am hunting and back out, a few have asked to stay (it was a long way in) and I agreed.

Here's a website that lets you see what's going on with our lawmakers.  There's a bill right now trying to make the pilot program a permanant deal.  Let your rep know that you support it and would like more programs initiated throughout the state. (if that's how you feel) It's good to let them know we are paying attention.

are you kidding me?? your comparing an elk getting poached to a bobcat that is just getting treed?? now your taking this way outa comparison. theres no tellin what your running when theres no snow, if the dogs strike you let them on it. is there somthin wrong with that? ive seen enough coon tracks way up high to now that they do go up in elevation. pretty much just anywhere that has a lil drainage a coon could be in there wether its at 200 elevation or 2500 there could be some coons up there

Yep! If it is against the law to run cats and you are running them it is the same..both are against the law.

Your right Houndhunter I've seen coon tracks in the snow in high elevation areas lots of times I've also treed several in high elevations during the night and day. Most of the coon I tree are during daylight hours cause I hate staying up all night. Twice I've seen road killed coon on the top of chinook pass. I'm done arguing my point with these selfish people on here its all about them. Like I said before if they made it illegal for you to keep your guns would you give them up or be an outlaw!

So are you saying that since it is illegal to run cats (my guns) you have not given it up (an outlaw) and are continuing to do it?

Check this website. http://wdfw.wa.gov/enf/cougar.htm

U see why people is out hunting right now over westside with full of dogs in box. BECAREFUL WHAT U THINK (They might be legally). you gotta becareful who you are nagging on. I know few guys who got draw for pscr got pulled over by Officer, and check their record and they are clean and go hunting. So you can be mistake by think "they are poarching is not what you think"
Ya People who got draw for westside and some eastside. The draw permittee can add three houndmen name on special form before dec 1. The name on list that goes in computer system and have right to go hunt with a permittee and can use hounds who ever got draw for pscr which mean 84 houndmen is legally to go only if 28 permittee added 84 hunter include 28 permittee which is total 112 hunters are all legally in WA for pscr ONLY.
I got to go a lot all winter with one of permittee who asked me to guide him. I am grateful and legally to chase every weekend last year and this year, because permittee put my name on their form and its in wdf system. I dont care what people think is illeagelly. I personally legally to do whatever state please us to removel cougar for public safety and we will DO EVERYTHING we can do to kill TWO COUGARS.

I have been hunting a lot in snow for coon westside. its way FUN than looking for cougar trax. I feel most safe when I am fully coon hunter! I have all evidence of picture and killing coon with hounds which is legally and can show any gamewarden if they stop me in middle of mountain and they will allow me to go hunting. All I have to be honest and not do any stupid because people is all over place right now. I would never chase yotes. its awfuly. I perfer coon!  :IBCOOL: its fun!
this picture was a coon cut we chase them.
