243 shooters

Just bought a 243 an I'm going to load the 55gr noslers in front of h414 for predator/varmint duty. I'm looking at using the 105gr amax in front of retumbo for deer.

Let me know what u find once you start working with that combo, I'm working on a load with that exact bullet but just haven't had enough time lately.

I shot a few of the A max 105's out of the .243 this morning and just can't seem to get a tight group. I'm using 7828 so hopefully a different powder will tighten it up, how many grains of retumbo were you thinking? I might load a few up and try it out.

i would say a 55 gr. NBT or the 55 gr. winchester ballistic silvertip

Well 46grs (2772fps) of retumbo is starting load and 49grs compressed (2986fps) is max  . I know I've read a lot on it and they say normaly the fuller the case is the accurate and uniform the pressure and vel will be so Ill let you know what I can do. I should get out this week and start on the 55gr noslers and the H414

The 55gr Noslers would be a good choice as they have a higher bc than a lot of the 60 to 70 gr bullets.

    I bought a pack of the Speer 70gr TNT (b/c .282) bullets to try out in my Remington .243, still haven't gotten to loading them yet. I don't have first have knoledge of these bullets, but i have heard some impresive results from people that have used them. The heavier bullet might be better for your twist rate.

As to the higher b/c of the lighter bullet, i've searched the Noslers 55gr Varmint BT to be at .276 b/c and Noslers 70gr Varmint BT at .310 b/c. It has allways been to my understanding that usually the heavier bullets have the higher Ballistic Coefficient.

Loading some 105's tomorrow, hopefully will shoot them saturday. I'll let you know if I find anything good.

Nosler SAYS it has a higher BC, but sometimes the bullet companies exagerate, or outright lie about their bullets' BC's.

I'm not saying it isn't what they say it is, but just that you can't always believe the numbers they provide.

I think noslers close. The 65gr vmax is only a few thasands longer then the 55gr nosler.
