I use Woodhaven mouth calls, too. Mouth calls are my primary call, but trumpets and wingbones really bring them in.

I use a 60+ year old box call that my Grandfather made. It sounds awesome and gives me a feeling of pride when it fools an old tom.

While I have a lot of calls my two "go to" calls are a Lynch® World Champion Box Call and a Lynch® "Jet Slate". I've used them successfully for the lat 30 years!

I've accumulated a pile of calls over the years and used a good number of em to harvest birds. However, I've grown quite fond of a couple custom made box calls....
1) Bruce Wurth - Cut-N-Paddle
2) Doug Camp - Unfair Advantage in Cedar
I always carry those 2 along w/ a handful of diaphram cals and a real Slate surfaced pot call.

I still have problems with mouth calls so I pretty much stick with my H.S. Strut black magic slate call with several types of sticks, and then K&H Ultimate push/pull. I just picked up the quakerboy triple threat with plexi, slate and aluminum surfaces and a Primos "The Freak" with the crystal surface.
A buddy of mine has a home made pot call made from a pine base and an aluminum surface. It has a really high pitched sound and fairly raspy, but it drives the birds nuts.

Brewzer, if you removed that fistfull of chew from your mouth the mouth diaphram would work much better.
Back to my call of choice, mouth call, I am really bad but I get birds to respond and hands are free. Next would be the slate that I use for real quiet purrs.

Ive been practicing with the quaker boy triple threat lately. Theres a lot of sound to be made for the amount of money with the 3 calling surfaces

I have a sweeet little Skoal can/slate call. It makes the sweetest softest purrs and clucks. Works really well the deeper we go intot he season. When everyone is out there blasting away and cuttin, etc. This little gem really tones down the calls and draws in the wary call shy longbeards. Here is a couple of photos:

I've had success with a Woods Wise waterproof strikers and Lil duece slate call. They seem to make a good tone. Also with a cheap HS strut push/pull type call. I agree with Littlebuck that the diaphram call is so handy because of its hands free use.
Littlebuck I don't know how you can give brewser a bad time about the fistful of chew in his mouth when you've got a butt hanging out of yours!
