Spring bear
« on: January 28, 2010, 09:40:15 AM »
Do all the spring bear tags require a land use permit from the timber companies such as Hancock?  I'm looking at 653 and 654??  Maybe 501 as well.

Not all spring bear tags require land use permits, but the ones you are looking at do.

Hunters interested in hunting on the
Kapowsin Tree Farm (units 653 & 654) should contact the tree
farm before submitting an application to find
out what areas are open. Those selected
for the Kapowsin Tree Farm hunt must then
purchase an access permit from Hancock
Forest Management by calling (800) 782-
1493.
Hunters selected for the Copalis hunt (unit 501) must
obtain a Recreational Use Permit and should
contact Rayonier at (360) 533-7000 during
regular business hours.

Hancock offers a reduced permit for the spring bear season only but you must have been drawn for spring bear.

Can't believe they sold out so fast, I didn't think the hunting in there was that great.

You can buy a temporary permit from Hancock that will only last the duration of the bear season and is only open to those who drew the spring bear tag. Last year I think it was $100.
