First time submitting.  This is from a late archery hunt.  A partly frozen lake.

Looks like the Russian is running pretty clear there.  Last time I saw it it was muck.  I had all these dreams in my head about that one, and I think the Copper. Both pretty dissappointing. Both really silted up, almost like the toutle was after Mt St Helens blew.

The Copper is a glacier river and always nasty fast looking, mainly dip netters for fishing and fish wheels, quite the dangerous river for certain, big boats and power is needed most of the time, but the shear number of fish that utilize it is amazing.  If you want a very good time put in a float on it mid Oct, if it isn't starting to freeze, you'll see bears at almost every sand bar thriving on old salmon carcasses washed up on the back side of the bars.  On the other hand the the Russian is a mountain fed river and a feeder river to the Kenai, the only reason it would have dirty looking is probably a couple days after a major rain, it is normally crystal clear and running well.  Fishing the Russian is awesome, I like it after the tourist go home (I guess I'm one of those now) and the Reds (Sockeyes) are really RED, just for catch and release or try for specific big fat Rainbows lurking below the salmon thriving on the eggs.  Not uncommon to catch 40-50 a day and toss in a few big rainbows, well satisfaction guaranteed.  Lots of bears, especially up by the falls....  And of course the two resident cubs in the picture (momma is dead along with one of the cubs) that now are full grown that run up and down into everyones, fishing stuff and bags...  Sooner or later someone will take them out as they get too comfortable with being around people...

Hey jacklope, I wanna see it...... anyway I was in boat watching david guy from my work reeling his first dorado then all sudden my Guide saw another and grab another fishing pole and threw a live fish on ANOTHER dorado was chasing David's fish and then my dorado bite a fish bait and the guide gave it to me so both of us reeling hard on two dorados, One of mine have flew up and in and flew up fliping like crazy but AWSOME! and then the  hook came off OHH NOO.... So david still fight with his dorado about 10 min later finially almost surface of water and I saw again same another dorado was one I lost was following David's doardo and wouldnt leave it so Guide tried threw new live fish and keep David fish down so another dorado can stay around with it. My fish wont bite at all DANG  :bash: so I told him the guide to allow me make a snag so I build my own snag quickly and threw down then again threw down then PULL HARD got snagged on tail OOPS!  :chuckle: it was hardest thing to pull with snagg on rear tail. WHEE it took me about  HOUR and half  to get my fish out of water. It was blast time.
u see a spot that snagged below by tail  :dunno:  :chuckle:
