Downriggers?

I was wondering what's your rigger of choice,and why. I need to get a pair,but cant make up my mined. I don't want to turn this into a mines better than yours thing, I would just like some input thanks.

I have scotty they are not power but like them very much. Im sure the power ones are even better.

The only Electric Downrigger to get is the Scotty's

I’ve got a pair of electric Scotty 1106’s on my boat and I love them.
Having a life time warranty is not a bad thing either.
They come with every thing you need to start using them with exception of the weight. IE: Swivel Mount, Telescoping boom (30" to 60") Scotty line release and all electric connections.

For manuals I've had the best luck with Penn fathommasters, but it is WELL worth it to get electric scotty's in my opinion.

nothin beats scotty . I worked at a lodge in AK for 3 years and they had cannon and they were OK . Have been running charters for 6 years on my own boat and i ll never use anything but scotty .

Agree with most for Scotty, best part you got several reps on this side of the state if they do need repair.  Tom Pollock at Sportco in Tacoma is a certified rep, so atleast you'll have piece of mind for the repairs if ever needed.  I got manuals, but man electric is the way to go without a doubt....  That up and down by hand gets to be a pain on manuals when you got a crazy terrain bottom....

I just put 4 scotty electrics on my boat.  I like the fact that you can get parts for them at just about any sports shop and there are quite a few techs to work on them around.  I put the new 175# braided on and it seems to be pretty nice.


Oh and if you get 1106's get the deals that you can pull the ball to the boat without having to turn the downrigger to the side or collapse it.  The work really well.
