Wyoming Antelope
« on: February 03, 2010, 07:20:52 PM »
I have been wanting to do a deer/antelope hunt in Wyoming for quite some time and finally have the time to do it. My hunting partner and I are thinking about hunting muleys in the region H area and are not sure how the antelope hunting is there, seemed like the numbers were a lot lower then other places in the state. I was wondering if anyone has experience hunting them around the H area, or if it would be a better idea to make the drive East a ways? We wouldn't be opposed to hunting deer somewhere else if the pronghorn was good. We will have 1 1/2- 2 weeks off to make it happen and aren't going after trophys or monsters just respectable animals and a fun hunt. I know some of the easier draws are more private but we wouldn't mind paying a landowner fee either. If anyone has experiences with a DIY deer/antelope in Wyoming hunt or region H I would like to hear.  If you would rather pm me then put on open forum that would be fine. Appreciate any help!
Mike

region h isn't the best antelope hunting, but there are good areas nearby.  I think most areas in WY lend themselves to a good combo hunt but I don't think regions G&H for deer are the best for that.  They just have the trophy deer.

Thanks Ridgerunner, that is a good point. I think I'm going to weigh out our options (seasons, quality, quantity, odds, etc.) and figure out what will be the best for what we are looking for.

if you've got 1.5-2 weeks to burn over there, pick a good goat unit and go there for goats. it wouldn't take but a day or 2 to kill a respectable speedgoat if that's what you're after. WY fish and wildlife has some great resources available to non-residents for information, landowners who will allow hunting, etc.
