Scatter Creek Wildlife area.
« on: February 04, 2010, 06:40:45 PM »
Has anyone been to the Scatter Creek release area recently?
(i have never been there before either, so do not know exactly what the area is like, I am assuming it is simular to Skookumchuck Release area)

I am looking for a area to take my dogs along with some phesants to work on them finding and flushing up some birds. The Skuckumchuck area has been mowed and the grass is short except near the tree line. I would like an area that is open with tall grass so i can place the birds in the open field and work the dogs on them. I would also like to shoot the birds at the end of our training fr the dog to retreive.

If anyone knows f any other are athat i could do this in, i will also like to know.

Thanks for the info
Gasman

I live across the road from it and take my dog out there all the time. There's quite a bit of cover but definitely not as much as in the fall. A lot of the grass has been knocked down by the rain. But it hasn't been mowed. There's also patches of scotchbroom and other brush in places. There are two different areas, one off of Case Road and one off of 183rd Avenue. Not really a lot of difference in cover between the two areas. Just try both and see which one you like best. Don't forget your parking permit.

I'm just across the road from the South parking lot. If I get a  chance I'll come on over and see if you're around.

Can you shoot in there off=season?  Even at your own birds?

Yes you can but you can't have your dog out there off-leash between June 1st and August 31st.

I was under the impression that a portion of Scatter Creek was open to off-leash training year round.

It  could be... yeah, I think the north part of it off of Case Road is. I was only thinking of the southern area which is across the road from my house. They just recently put up signs all along 183rd Avenue regarding the dog restriction.
