I have to say that is impressive speed....
I am happy with my old, slow bow though.
Power to you !

i think i would rather throw a slow 2x4 then a super fast needle. we killed lots of deer with our old bows that were well under 200 fps. but i guess just like a sled, dirtbike or a truck  soup it up!! just keep fixin stuff as it breaks!

I think what id be after with that bow is the fact that it can throw a 628 grain arrow 35 more fps than I can throw a 423 grain arrow out of my bow!! and have major KE gains!! start takin out tanks with that thing!!

warhorse you aint strong enough to throw a needle let alone a 2x4!!

I would just like to point out that one particular archer....................."Howard Hill" used exceedingly high poundage bows to hunt with. In fact his favorite poudage bows to hunt with were 80-90 pounds. Was this for there killing power. Absolutley NO!!!!!!!!. Howard used the high poundage to achieve an extremely flat trajectory. That is a fact!!! If anybody knew what it took to kill it was Howard. If you look at the list of over 4000 animals
Howard killed in his lifetime you will realise that it does not take a 90 pound long bow to kill a chipmunk or ground squirrel. It was all about a flat trajectory. :twocents:

I like Howard Hills reasoning. If it worked for him and his long bows then it should work just as well for me and my compound. :dunno:

Wow... that's screaming!    :o

Not baggin on you Wapiti... but IMO speed's only part of the equation.  It's really important but needs to be balanced with the ability to draw smoothly, hold for extended times at full drawn, be forgiving to shoot, and be quiet.  These factors can play as big or bigger a role in being successful.  Never shot that bow so no way to comment on it... just making the point that I wouldn't sacrifice too much of the other stuff for speed.    :twocents:

Regardless, 414 is pretty amazing.

I don't understand the point of the secrecy.
 :dunno:

Warranty :dunno:

That is what I was thinking.  ;)  Like I told WAPITIHUNTER in a PM.  I bet it has been a fun experiment but I wouldn't want to do it with one of my bows.   :)

Pretty amazing what these manufacturers are doing these days.  Wasn't long ago when guys were chasing 300fps.

Here's what WAPITI's monster would do with a WA legal hunting arrow

Bow's IBO Speed:   365   fps

Draw Length:   30.00   inches

Draw Weight:   80.00   lbs

Weight on String:   15.0   grains

Total Arrow Weight:   480.0   grains

Calculated Speed:         336.67   fps

Kinetic Energy:         120.84   ft-lbs

Momentum:         0.7175   slug-ft/sec

Just in case anyone missed the link I posted before this is a pretty cool article explaining what it would take to produce a 400fps IBO bow.  Not going to happen anytime soon.

You got it all figured out Lowe! Eyerybody seems to have forgotten that the XLR8 is listed at 360+ I honestly believe after what we have seen that it is closer to 370 ibo.  :dunno:

LONG TIME LURKER FORST TIME POSTER.

WAPITIHUNTER AFTER THE CRAP YOU PULLED IN THE NOOKSACK PERMIT LAST YEAR I THINK MOST FOLKS WOULD BE REAL HAPPY IF YOU LEARNED TO SHOOT THE BOW YOU HAVE BEFORE YOU MAKE THE JUMP TO SOMTHING SO POWERFULL.  HOW MANY ELK DID YOU KILL ON YOUR PERMIT HUNT LAST YEAR BECAUSE OF PISS POOR SHOOTING?

I DONT THINK THE NEW ROCKET SHIP WILL HELP YOU BECOME A BETTER HUNTER EITHER

-S
Wow Nice of you to join us Black hat but maybe you should have introduced yourself before personally attacking someone! And why are you yelling?

Lowedog your about dead on as we did crono a washington legal arrow also but now I don't remember exactly what it was, but I think you're damn close.

For all of those that don't agree what Wapiti is doing haven't you ever wanted to build a hot rod and take it to the track and see how fast you can go? I know I bought an 1100cc bike when I was younger just to go fast!

I think if someone posted on here that they got a wildcat round to shoot some astonishing speed from their rifle we'd all be oohing and awing of how fast it was but since it's a bow it's a bad thing.  :twocents:
Shut up and Hunt!

Warranty??  Wow!!  So if your bow was to blow up while you were doing this experiment, Joe would tell Mathews that his customer did nothing wrong and they need to fix his bow at no charge?  I didn't think that i could have any less respect for him, but you showed me that i was wrong.  Thanks Jared.

As far as breeching 400fps.  That is pretty cool.  I know you won't be hunting with that set up, but it is still bad ass.
