Rifle Non-Typical is now the Agnew bull. The entry score is 436-2/8 net B&C and 446-4/8 gross B&C.

Should be noted that the Washington State record for typical elk scores 420 4/8 B&C net, is a 7x7 and was killed by Charlie Gunnier in Yakima county (on the reservation) in 1990. The bull ranks #7 all-time typical.

The Washington State record for Roosevelt elk scores 380 6/8 B&C net, is an 8x8 and was killed by Sam Argo in Jefferson county in 1983. The bull ranks #4 all-time Roosevelt.

I would be skeptical that that second referenced animal represents a legally taken animal:

IIRC this crew had a reputation that preceded the conviction going back a decade.

So if it was taken illegally it isn't  Fair Chase and should not be in the record books.

What do they do with poached animals in the record book?  Call them picked up heads so they don't give the poacher credit?  Just curious

I am not saying this animal was taken illegally, but I remember back to the days that this crew had a reputation of taking big elk illegally.  That time predated the conviction in ~1980 and at the time I remember the discussions going on at Tacoma Sportsman's Club and Paul Bunion revolving around: at a bare minimum, any record head they claimed should be looked at as suspect and/or the consensus opinion was that they should be disqualified from participation in any of the big game animal record books.

I am not a follower of the books, and when I saw this record referenced it raised a red flag w/me.  The cavalier attitude regarding serial poaching of "record book" bulls by a well known group of individuals was a hot topic back in the mid seventies and when this conviction came down it validated what a lot of people had been saying.

It shouldn't make any difference to you. I wasn't talking about any of your posts. Read back at what specifically I quoted.
