I just found this topic. It is funny, yet at the same time it is maddening and scary. I have had one taxidermist do a cougar rug for me as well as a bear rug for me. He did excellent work. It makes me very leery to ever try anyone else, seeing the work that some so called taxidermists put out. How does one ensure that they will not get a terrible mount back? Some of these are obviously jokes but I have seen some really lousy work. If I had killed the animal and gone to the trouble of skinning it out properly and then packed out the hide and then paid good, hard earned money only to end up having to look at something that flat out disgusted me for the next few decades I would be mighty pissed.
You taxidermists posting on here are displaying your work for us to see and that is a big help for sure. Contacting those who have used your services and getting their feedback will also no doubt be useful.
