I was very impressed with the willingness to endure discomfort, the persistence, and the resultant images.

Keep in mind, however, that what he did is done by thousands of wildlife photographers throughout the world every year.  I guess the difference is that he did it for lions, and working with lions seems to get more press/attention than doing the exact same thing with ducks, deer, herons, etc.  What he did, while impressive, is hardly a unique idea.

The photos are phenomenal and as Tom says above many photographers endure all sorts of strangeness to get the right shot.  And those shots were definitely right wow...
