With the changes in the regs that now allow us to legally carry a hand-gun during archery and muzzle-loader seasons, I was just curious as to what gun and caliber you carry.

I carry a Ruger SPS in .327 federal Mag. It has 3" barrel, nice sights & and very easy to pack.

I agree with both of these, I carry an Anaconda when hunting and my casual walks through the woods in the off season always are supported with my Colt .357 Cobra.  These casual times in the woods with my Cobra began the first weekend I went camping with my new bride.  Same weekend some campers were brutally beaten and more in an Oregon campground.  As we were leaving for our trip my wife asked if I was carrying.  Not sure of her intent I answered that I was, "Good" she said, I wouldn't be comfortable out there if you weren't after the Oregon campground area deal.

Tweekers and punks, they're the biggest threat, but no point in being under gunned if you went to the trouble to carry in the first place.

I've had a few close calls with a big tom in Cowichie..... Along with a very bad morning with a pack of yotes.... So with that in mind Glock .40 with a couple extra mags.... That would be my choice because that's what I carry....

I carry a s&w model 60 .357. but I was just thinking this very morning that a freedom arms model 97 w/ a 4 or so inch barrel in .44 special might be pretty handy.

I've been looking at the Bersa Thunder HC 40 or Thunder UC 45.  From what I hear, Bersa makes a good handgun.

My first and only handgun so far... Dan Wesson .357 with 4" barrel.  Feel soo much better with a bangstick on me in the woods solo than without it!  It was REALLY comforting having it on my hip taking my girl to a late night parkside bday dinner last night.  Deadend road public park by the river = never know who/what is going to be down there...

Doesn't the new rule require you to have a CPL, and the pistol be concealed?

I'm not a fan of being "under-gunned" but I also know I don't want to try to conceal a 6" 44mag or something similar in size while I'm also wearing a pack, binos, and toting my bow around...
I also believe a gun in the pack is too darn slow in case something did arise.

That being said, my 4" Kimber .45 will be on my waist. I can keep all shots on a paper plate off-hand at 40yds and I feel it is "enough" gun for dogs, cats, and tweakers.
