I drew a lincoln A tag and was looking for some pointers. i have never hunted that unit before and i am not sure on access. i heard the south end of the unit would be the best place to start.

If you're coming from the south you can access it from Highway 6, coming from the north, go in on Lincoln Creek Rd out of Centralia. I'm not sure if one part of the unit is better than any other. I would just hunt whatever area is closest to where you live. It's kind of hard to recommend anything yet, without even knowing what part of the unit is open. I think it will be a tough hunt. You'll be doing good just to see one bear all spring in there, in my opinion.

Welcome......

Before you get bashed for being a first time poster asking for info, I suggest you go to the Introductions thread and tell us a little about yourself. It will go a long way in getting help.

I got to see one last year while Turkey hunting in unit (on Weyerhauser land even)
I talked to some employees (WH) today while scouting, and was told they have seen a couple.
I think, just like anywhere, if you work for it, you should get results.
The annual harvest for the whole unit has gone from 3-4 bears to 10-11 since 2003, so there should be a good chance of a 10% success rate, as in 5 of us lucky permit holders should harvest a bear.....

You  should look at WDFW GoHunt mapping, to get a good idea, probably wont include DNR land,

I'll be coming in from the south maybe......  Got the permit in hand, whuch just adds to the confusion :dunno: :chuckle: Open on days designated by Weyerhauser between APR 15 - JUNE 15 :dunno:  That portion of 501 that is designated............I've called the canned information line recorded in September 2009..............I keep telling myself patience, someone will give me more info....... :dunno:  We will be camping at Rainbow Falls State Park, unless can find a spot on public land.  I should be used to this by now :bash:

You would think we would learn. :bash:

But the CF and Copalis hunts were so much easier and straight forward.

I attempted to contact Weyerhauser...
Reply:
Hi Michael, In order to handle the hundreds of inquiries we receive each year regarding hunting and recreational access on Weyerhaeuser property we have set up a Public Access Hotline. The hotline explains our recreational access policies and rules. There is also specific information, by tree farm, of what areas are open and closed for public access. This hotline is updated regularly as necessary.  The hotline number in Washington is 1-866-636-6531. Thank you. -----Original Message-----From: wyresponse@weyerhaeuser.com [mailto:wyresponse@weyerhaeuser.com] Sent: Monday, April 05, 2010 12:22 PMTo: (Contact) Timberlands, WestSubject: WY.com form - Contact Us by E-mail   To- TimberLandsWest@weyerhaeuser.comSubmitted- 4/5/2010 12:21 PMSubmitting Page- http://www.weyerhaeuser.com/Company/CorporateAffairs/Contact/ContactByEmail Form Name- Contact Us by E-mail

I think if we don't hear back from them soon, we should just figure, if it is Weyerhauser it is open...

:yeah:   I wouldn't even bother trying to contact Weyerhaeuser. Good luck with that. Just hunt on Weyerhaeuser and you'll be fine. I'm going to try contacting somebody with DNR and find out why the state land can't be hunted.

There is a lot of logging going on in my section of unit, I keep asking the workers I run into questions, but so far only one guy has been helpful (told me where he saw some poop), but it is on the wrong side of a red dot.....

Rainbow falls is the only place to camp I assume. I might spend a few days camped there. Leaving Friday morning back to washington 4 day drive.
. Looking forward to calling. Just did up 3000 Mylar reeds to bring home. Testing some for bear. See ya in the woods. Rick
