What is your favorite breech plug grease?
« on: April 03, 2010, 04:52:12 PM »
I am still new to this muzzleloader business, and am having a blast.  Starting to run out of the CVA stick of breech plug lube, so that is why the question.  What is your favorite breech plug grease?

Thanks,
wsmnut

I use Knight Breech plug grease. I used Silver high pressure teflon tape prior to the greas worked good also. The grease is easier to deal with though IMO.

After trying just about everything.  I hands down found the best stuff out there for breech plugs.  It is made by Jet-Lube.  It's called NIKAL.  It's pure nickel for extreme service, anti-seize lubricant.  It protects against galling, seizure and heat freeze which you can get from products like vasoline.
Temp range is -65 f to 2600 f.
I also use it on all my chokes for my waterfowl guns, etc.  Anything threaded that I want to later come appart.  Great stuff.
Cut em!

www.jetlube.com

You can pick it up from Grainger and Fastenal.  You may have to order off line as well.  If you try it you will swear by it.
