I'm sure the future of spring bear hunting is nice and secure. no backlash at all will come from of this from the timber companies because of people's $h!t ability to follow through with the permits they put in for I'm sure  :bash: go ahead flame me

I am sure it won't cause a backlash. Part of it is their own doing.
Remember, these are supposed to be damage hunts and not "permanant seasons".
As a viable tool for bear removal....it is not a good one.

Finally got some information... :bash:
The hunt area seemed pretty small, but their map is decieving...
and the walk in area is the only 24/7 north west of Lepisto...
Other area after 3:00 pm, but no daily closure.. :IBCOOL:

Interesting. That should make BTKR happy. Maybe he will keep his permit.

F&W told me it would be a couple days a week. Not sure how much happier this makes me. I just got my letter and will do some research.

Well, Monday through Friday you can only hunt after 3:00 PM. Except for the one walk in area which is open all the time.

That's what I was thinking. With the time limitations, certain areas could get crowded. But maybe not, how many people are really going to be hunting during the week? I'd guess Friday will probably be the worst.

I actually am surprised by the walk in area, I mean I was up there two weeks ago and gates were open and I didnt see any active logging, Up in the other area there are at least 5 places that are cutting/hauling trees out. I even drove in a road that didn't even have a gate.. :dunno: goes all the way through to Rochester and connects to all those roads, is it walk in only for bear hunters ?
What about other users ?

It's all gated as far as I know. I don't know of any way to drive in there unless you have a key to a gate, or an ATV. But of course, ATV's are illegal on Weyerhaeuser land.

Exactly!  I don't want to have someone drive in behind me after I walked a couple miles.

I drove in what looked like a guys driveway and talked to him, asking about Turkeys and Bears, he was the one that told me it went through, Said a friend of his drove through from Rochester "all the time"
... I drove in several miles and turned around and came out the same way, but I believe him.. :dunno: It connected to a lot of roads, and I ended up on top looking down on the farms along Garrard Creek

I think you were probably on DNR land. The Weyerhaeuser is all gated and every time I've been out there they have all been closed. Did you go in on Harris Road?
