I dont know, I was on my way back from buying tobacco from the natives and was poking around on every entrance I could find, this guy was working on his fenceline, so I stopped to talk to him.
Not sure what road  :dunno:
I probably won't be hunting up there too much anyhow, as I have a few spots for Turkey, and a couple spots to look for bear, lots of time....
I am curious about one of my locations though...it has a locked gate, and a sign saying "walk in hunting only" but is in their mon-friday after 3:00 and weekend access area.. :dunno:
This does make my decision on where to go in the mornings though.....

You support the indians?   :bash:

The color coding on the map doesn't seem to agree with the signs on the ground, I noticed that. On the map they show some gates as yellow but they are actually green dot.

Actually I am supporting myself, it is 1/2 the price , I need to keep as much of my own money as I can because due to our present economy, and government I don't have as much as I used to.
But that is a whole different post....

I also have asked about that, does the map, and restrictions supercede the signs ?
I Turkey hunt in area, and follow green dot roads, am I legal, or would I be cited for "hunting during a closed season" by being in there Turkey hunting while in possesion of a Spring Bear Permit, and Broadheads in my quiver ?
I hope to get an answer before Wed. so I can make my plans for the next morning....

I just got off the phone with Donny Martorello of Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, He was very helpful and cleared up a few things, and is going to get answers to the rest of my questions....
The good news is that Weyerhauser is only going to be allowed 4 (yes 4) depradation permits for the year, and only if they claim we are not being effective......Hound hunters will not be allowed to hunt while we are, so we won't be competing.
The e-mail system will inform us of where they are having damage occure, with updates on any new damage.
The bad news is that they actually gave out 75 permits for the area, so it might get a little crowded.
He is trying to gain more access for us, and find out about the green dot roads.

Did you ask him why the DNR land isn't open?

That's good news about the hounds not being in there at the same time.

After listening to him explain for about 5 minutes about what was going on, I barely remembered most of my questions...
When he calls me back, I will ask him, but I remember him saying that this is mostly about attempting to prove to WH that allowing boot hunters can be effective ,  :dunno:
So they will allow more areas to be part of the program.
We better slaughter some animals !!!

This is a concern for me as well. If the bear hunters can't be in the woods before 3pm then it should also apply to all hunters and user groups.

The bad news is that they actually gave out 75 permits for the area, so it might get a little crowded.

So the regs said 50, but they gave out another 25 or a total of 75 permits with only one of the three areas open for access all day.  Could get very crowded.

Now today I noticed in the proposals that were approved over the weekend that they want to add another 25 permits to the Lincoln hunt for next year.  :bash:

If they opened up WeyCo and State land in the Lincoln it would be better.

He explained the problem he had was the guy he was working with moved to a different company and he had to start over, He is attempting to gain as much access as he can, and is still trying to straghten some things out.
That is part of the reason for the E-mail registration...
