Pretty bad when the dog retrieves one and comes back and has to lick its a$$ to get the taste out of its mouth.   :chuckle: :chuckle:

mix them with your other duck and make summer suasage out of them at a butcher and you won't taste and duck flaver
or fish :)
it turns out extremely good
Maturity is when you have the power to destroy someone who did you wrong but instead you breathe, walk away, and let life take care of them.

I've only shot one and it will be the only one I ever shoot. Went and picked it up after I shot it and it had a 5" squawfish in it's throat.  :puke:

Ice, that was some good decision making there my friend.  Your reply probably would have been zapped within a minute. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:  I know what you meant though.   ;)  John

This works good.  Sometimes you can tell when ya get a mergie stick.

I don't recommend trying to cook them up though.  Did that once with a big Columbia River Common.  Even dipping in sauces it was pretty gross.

The best way to use Mergs is to freeze them and use them to train dogs with.

I shot a mergie couple years back and my lab wouldn't touch the dang thing.  She got a few mallards that day, but couldn't get over the smell and taste of the merganser.  Can't say I blame her!

If my dog wouldn't bring back a downed bird.... he would walk home  :)
