Backwoods_Boy Spring Bear Hunt, Copalis-A learning experience.

We used a lot of aerial mapping and tried desperately to find our way into some of the more remote stuff . What looked to be an easy task turned into more driving than we wanted because of new roads and crappy maps. Areas that looked good on aerial were often freshly cut and not as good as the pics we were working from and turned out to be a wash. We actually stomped the woods for several hours and spent several more out in the cuts glassing and calling. I know that my old knees are happy to be home  By the end of the weekend we narrowed that unit to a couple of really good locations and I'm pretty confident that backwoods will be pulling a bear out of there before it's all said and done. We learned a lot and had a great time. I wish I could go on his next trip.

yeah i watched that one too. seen it a few times.
gave me a little hope that there are really a ton of bruins around that Rez.

that pic with your feet up, looks like my views half the time when I bear hunt.

If you want a for sure way to find a bear...take a nap...when you wake up, one is usually in sight.

thank's i'm turning some bear call's now. they will be like my new call but with some laminates and bacote andamboyna burl. excited about how they turn out. i'll try falling asleep. hasnt been hot enough or nice enough yet. Rick
