WDFW Special Hunt Announcement
« on: May 12, 2010, 11:49:04 AM »
I just got the email below.  Thought I'd share.

WDFW SPECIAL HUNT ANNOUNCEMENT
Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife
600 Capitol Way North, Olympia, WA 98501-1091
http://wdfw.wa.gov/

Dear Washington Hunter:

Attached is a worksheet that you may find useful if you plan to submit special hunt permit applications this year. The worksheet has been designed so that you can fill it out as you determine which special hunt applications you would like to purchase and as you decide which hunt choices you would like to apply for. The worksheet is also available on the WDFW website at:  http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/permits/ .

This worksheet cannot be mailed or turned in to WDFW for submittal completion. All submittals must be completed online at http://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov or by calling the automated IVR at 877-945-3492 by the May 26 deadline.

Since there have been so many changes to the permit categories that are available this year, be sure to familiarize yourself with the 2010 hunting pamphlet which is in stores now and online at:  http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/regulations/ .

For more information visit our Special Hunt Information page http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/permits/ .

They're trying to minimize the deluge of phone calls they are bound to get on May 26th by confused and/or irate customers.  It's kind of humorous in a way.  :)

What they are trying to do is keep reminding everyone so no one forgets and they make millions  :chuckle:

Yea and so the vendor that does the online licensing system can make his millions.

Where can I go (one stop shop) to see exactly how many points I currently have? I used the links above and it shows "points used"... so what...  :bdid:

Another concern is when I toggle to 2008 it says points used for elk is 4, toggle to 2009 and points used for elk is also 4. Did I not get credit for the previous year, in other words should 2009 read "points used 5"???:dunno:

*censored*, I just want to hunt *censored* !!!  :bash:    (sorry... sailor-mouth)  :chuckle:

What I discovered on the "points used" if it doesn't look right it could be that you applied as a group that year, and the number shown there would be the average of the group, because that is what is used for the drawing. If you want to know how many points you have, the best way to find out for sure is to log in as if you were submitting your applications. When you get in there you can look at your history. Just add up all the years you have applied and not been drawn for a species, and that's how many points you have.

The announcement is complicated, because the system is complicated :chuckle:.

This system is now so complex they need to provide a worksheet.  Incredible.

I suspect (and actually hope) the chorus of complaints will be quite loud.

I have no doubt they will have total chaos on May 26th (the deadline.)  And May 27th they better plan on having all employees working overtime because the phones will be ringing off the hook.

You guys are forgetting that they insisted that this new program would make it much easier for them to complete the draw because there would be fewer apps in each pool.  I know im expecting them get the results out sooner....
