I have never even heard of that scope from Leupold.  Guess I better start checking out the new gear.  It must be a Wind River style of scope in HD, right?  It must be a dandy as that's only a few hundred dollars less than their Gold Ring HD.  Anxious to head your comments on it.  What power and objective?

I'm not telling anyone to buy what I buy or hunt how I hunt. I am sharing what I am doing because I thought that was the purpose of this board.

Please let me know how you like it. I am going to purchase a spotting scope this summer and didn't know this spotting scope existed. I know the sequoia received terrible field reviews so it will be interesting to see if Leupold will back their name on this model. Thanks!

I see it's a 20/25-60 power by 80mm.   A size I was hoping to see Leupold build.

Looks like this is an 80mm spotter that comes with a 30x fixed and a 25-60x variable eye piece. After you hire a Sherpa to haul it for you I would assume it ought to pick up heat plumes really well. Looks nice.

Just curious why you bought it from SWFA.  Nothing against them but it looks like everyone else is selling it for $799: Eagle Optics, Optics Planet, Adorama, etc.  Was this a kit of some sort?
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

hi guys, it's 799 just for the scope. i bought the kit which includes the tripod and hardshell case. that was 899. i purchased the scope basically one of only two sites carrying it at the time and the price was exactly the same at both sites. the tripod has a quick release and level.

I did a little research. Looks like the Kenai HD is a green ring, a high end green ring, supposed to be a step up from the Sequoia.
I'd like to compare one to my gold ring.

Interesting.  Just want to follow the thread...
