It's ridiculous when the government starts telling the people what color clothing they have to wear.  Why orange? Why not pink?

I wear it when rifle hunting and make damn sure my wife and kids wore plenty..Its ashamed it has come to that,but a great deal of hunters in the woods are unsafe,I see a lot of it each year..I have to not only watch that an animal dont pick up on me,but hunters also..I would like having the choice,and If I did here I would still wear it...I dont like the goberment telling me what I have to do..If that makes any sense

I probably would wear it sometimes if it were not a law here, but other times, like when it's really raining, I like to throw on a good rain coat over everything. Problem is my rain coat is not orange. Or, what if you put a backpack on over your orange? You're no longer legal.

I agree I want to wear hunter pink and there is some green and yellow out there that is blinding... I hate orange to be honest.  Idaho doesn't have hunter orange rules and I dont think they have an excessive number of accidental shootings  this whole government knows best is getting really old really fast.....we should be able to make our own choices I dont wear orange during bear season still idiots with guns in the woods and responsible people with guns in the woods just doesn't make much sense.

Even though I understand the reasonings behind states adopting the Hunters Orange.  I think the gov and people are trying to babyproof EVERYTHING.  Accidents happen.  Sometimes they are fatal and that really sucks.  IMO that is the risk you take for participating in anything.

Actually International pick is a better choice as it does not resemble any fall colors. Back east in the oaks, maples and such the orange kinda blends in. Go with Glo-Pink...   the Rainbow folks would be hitting on ya!

Here is a novel thought how about using your God given choice and using your freaking noodle! I wear hunters orange when rifle hunting, but have taken it off once i'm 50-60 ft up a tree in my stand... Is it against the law? yep, do i think it comprimises my safty, NO! I Didn't wear hunter orange while rifle hunting in ID last year, and didn't shoot my bro in law or cousin.... Made it harder to push/drive through the woods tho.  Good for Oregonians for standing up the THE MAN and the Nanny State!

I'm all for it. Camo blaze orange makes great camo too.
I know a guy who shot his partner by accident, he shot an animal and it passed through killing his life long hunting partner. He said if he'd worn orange it wouldn't have happened.
I have a friend who saw a relative shoot someone. Again orange would have prevented it.
The main argument I always see is don't tell me what to do. Well when people stop being stupid we won't have to be told. (never happen)
I wear orange so hopefully someone won't shoot me, but have found it to be very good camo in dry areas.
If you got shot once you probably wouldn't think twice about wearing it.

Hopefully the Oregon commission is not like ours and they actually listen to what the people want (or don't want in this case)........

That's why I bought my Blaze vest a size large, it fits over my daypack, I look like an orange VW Beetle....

Having to wear it doesn't bother me, although I'd rather be in something cool like tiger stripe...

In idaho orange is not required for big game hunting. I usually wear a dull blue or red just so I do not look like an animal.

I have told this story before on this forum about the hunter I had bear hunting who was sitting watching large berry patches. Suddenly he sees a black bear moving in the hucklebery brush on the hillside below. The bear was slowly moving as it fed on berries, the hunter took off his safety and was waiting for the bear to move out of the brush for a clear shot, suddenly a woman dressed totally in black stood up, he had his crosshairs on her butt in the brush.

He about had heart failure, he was going to quit hunting altogether. Fortunately after a couple days we got him to hunt again. But this guy really did nothing wrong, in fact he did it right, he was waiting for a clear shot and not just pulling the trigger on color in the brush.

Even though I don't agree with forced hunter orange, this clearly demonstrates the need for people to wear some color of clothing not representative of game. The real problem I see is that many ordinary people have no idea that they need to wear the right colors when in the field. Most hunters are pretty smart about avoiding the wrong colors.

That whole affair really scared the crap out of me too.

every wear there are acidents that orange could of helped i have watched so many people take off there orange in the field just to tresspass on to a property and they don't want to stand out i am all for orange but i don't need a orange dress while in the woods

When stationed in So Cal I'd wear Orange walking in to check my game cam and set up my tree stand for late bow season.  You'd be surprised at how many knuckleheads use thier scope as a set of binos.

During turkey season I switch from blue or red handkerchiefs to green ones.
