I am new to shooting muzzys.  Man it was fun, and it is hard to blow a box of bullets.  Unlike modern rifles, $50 box in a matter of minutes.  OUCH I learned that I have been spoiled with the use of scope on modern rifles.  Holy cow, I have a lot to learn.  I have the remington 700 ML stainless.  I sure like the ease of use and cleaning!!!!  But I interested in hearing what some of you think of various sights, I have reviewed some of the previous discussions.  Just what a didn't need a new shooting hobby!  
Last question, any tips to choosing grains of powder?  I basically was just getting used to the ML, so I stuck with 110 grains of 777 and powerbelt 295 aero tips.

this is the only sight i use on my muzzys shrank my groups at the longer 100 yards+ ranges very bright and with the pins in the back easy to get reference points instead of with a reg peep sight just putting the pin in the middle of a black hole

You'd do well starting with Carps advice.  He and I have talked at length on muzzleloader hunting and especially types of sights.  He and I shoot the same gun and I will be putting the peep that he recommends to you on my rifle soon.  Good luck and let us all know how the shooting goes.

I use Williams WGRS peep sites on my Muzzies. The front site I like to have either a fiberoptic site or gold bead. I do not like the hoods as I feel in the woods they become somewhat of a hindrance. The hood IMO can cover part of the animal causing hesitation. I also have the Fire site Ghost ring by Williams. The open sites I have are fiber optic front and rear. I usually wont hunt with them though.

Any configuration you decide to use along as it incorporates a peep will give you an advantage over blade sites IMO.

Muzzle Loaders are an exciting way to hunt and a blast to target shoot with, good luck and good hunting.

Thanx guys, I contemplated putting in for the multi season, but held back because of the money!  Maybe one of these days, but I think I will look into the sights mentioned above.  I had fun yesterday, and plan to do more target shooting if nothing else.

thanks gadwall for the kind words. and whitelighting is correct abot covering parts of the animal at some ranges BUT it cover usally the head and the butt making you focuss on the vital area instead on the horns i was tought the aim small miss small so i like the globe system better because i am not watching the whole animal when i aim just his chest.

since i switche to the williams peep, my groups are so much better, 110 grains is a good start, you can add more or less depending on your groups i started out with a 100 grains, and tried goin up but all 3 of my muzzys seen to like 100

Thanx Mason, there seems to be a split on the Williams or the tru glo.  I think I might try goin down to 100 grains and see what happens too

both my guns like 120grains best both are good sights but there is only one in my mind that is right for me

One thing you need to remember is that Triple 7 is "hotter" than regular black powder.

85 grains of Triple 7 (measured by volume) is equal to 100 grains of black powder.

Triple Seven is a high energy product designed to provide the muzzleloading hunter with higher velocities when used in the same VOLUME as blackpowder. To duplicate a blackpowder load velocity using Triple Seven, you must decrease the powder charge by 15%. *See WARNING below.
Pyrodex is lighter in weight than blackpowder and weighs only about 70% as much as blackpowder. However, because Pyrodex yields more energy per pound than does blackpowder, the same volume of Pyrodex gives similar performance to blackpowder. Pyrodex loads given in this manual for muzzleloading guns are measured by volume, not weight.

After last season's muzzy season I was looking at getting the Williams peep for my Bighorn but now seeing that Truglo I now have to look into that.  My buddy just bought a Bighorn and I took him out last weekend to show him how to shoot it without losing any appendages and he is now hooked.  I just started shooting last year with my Bighorn and have been shooting 100 grains of 777 pellets with a powerbelt 348 grain aerotip.  At 100 yards I am nuts on, I need that new peep to help with targets a little farther out.  My front sight pretty much covers my practice target any farther out.

yeah, it will help on that for sure. i love both mine and have talked about 10 people from this site into getting them and a few not on here and all of them love them. very bright smaller front pin. and the 2 dots in the back help make sure you are lined up instead of trying to center a red dot in a black hole. the williams are good as well. but i prefer the truglo 10:1

Wow that really looks big on that barrel. I think I would be afraid of getting that caught in the brush or just knocking it around in the woods.

if you look at them outside without the shade they can almost be to bright. i think that it just may be the angle they don't seem that big in person.
