How does the Xelerator® Wad work?

You will be able to pick it up this fall.  My buddy has had a chance to test some of it last season.  He mentioned that there was a lot of residual powder in the gun, it may be pretty hard on some of the auto guns.  More breaking parts if you shoot lots of it.

Well guys, I got a chance to hunt scoters in January with a rep from Heavi Shot. We went out with some improved "steel shot" and it was devastating. I am sure this is Remington's response to the new Heavi Shot load. Lets hope the price is bareable.

My only real problem with ammo like this means guys will take a 90yd shot instead of a 70yd shot. I seem to kill birds just fine with what ever load is the cheapest by the case.

I've heard people say that once you get over 1500-1600fps the shot becomes erradic and unpredictable as the BB's will tend to bounce off each other and can throw off the pattern. I have no idea of that's true or not.

I'd prefer to use a smaller shot when trophy hunting, but with my 835 with modified extended choke, my best round has been a cheap 3" BB. I swear I've tried everything else, but this seems to pattern the best with my gun. It hasn't really anhilated anything, but when my buddy and I both hit a wood duck hen at the same time that did a number on her.

My only real problem with ammo like this means guys will take a 90yd shot instead of a 70yd shot. I seem to kill birds just fine with what ever load is the cheapest by the case.

  If you shoot straight you'll hit it. Everything else is for the cameras

I have seen guys take 90yd shots. Snow goose season comes to mind, any goose day in the permit zone. As far as the pattern goes it depends on the loads. I have loaded up some shells that hit 1730, reduce the payload and you can push velocity. My patterns with that load with a 935 where great out to 50ish. But I have heard of banana patterns with the higher speed stuff too.

What's allowed Remington to break the 1700fps without loosing the pattern is the sold wad cup with the rear expansion.  With the standard wad the wad peels off to fast and the pattern is erratic.  They have been able to control this as the steel slows down.  Only problem will be if you hit that duck / goose under 15 yards.  The wad cup will probably be lodged inside the bird.

My mossberg spit one about 3 years ago.

Got a new barrel and a new auto-loader since than,

It was a long retrieve, but we got him.

 It was hard to run in waders laughing and yelling.
It made the whole day.
