Gun Reblueing

I need a recommendation on a place to take a shotgun to get reblued. I live in the Tacoma Area.

I have used the plum brown on a muzzleloader shotgun, use a torch to heat it and gives a nice finish.  I think the new paints are much more durable than blueing if you are looking at having it done or do-it-yourself.

Sorry I can't give advice on a place to have it done.

Had not thought of doing it myself, needs a bit of refinishing, a little bit of pitting on the metal. I could probably do it myself, however lately with the little free time I have with two young kids, I would rather spend the time outdoors and let someone else do it for me!!

hey since it is on the subject has anyone ever used the little blue pen they sell like a marker to do touch ups? i have a few guns with a little nick here and there that would be great for if it works.

I'm not into the shiny pretty flashy look on stuff like rifles. I have a new Ruger rifle that had the deep polished blue finish to it...veryy perty but notmy style. I just had a guy parkerize it and it turned out sweet.
I wouldn't hesitate to do that again...and the price was very reasonable.

About 9 or 10 years ago I had my grandfathers 30-06 re-blued. Welchers on Pacific ave in tacoma did it for me, I thought they did a great job. I believe it cost $150. It didn't need any pitting repair or anything, just a strait blueing.

jack, how did your parkerizing come out? does it have any greenish or purple tint to it? My project rifle is to be parkerized.

My dad is set up to do his own parkerizing in his garage.  He has done several rifles for himself and he just god done doing 10-15 M1Garand rifles for the local gun club and they turned out really nice.  He would probably give a good rate.

no wierd colors. the only thing is that it looks like you can see the grain in the steel...maybe thats what it is. I like the look of it. different metals come out differently from what i hear.
I paid $100.00 I don't know if thats cheap or not.
