WTH did I sign up for?

I jumped in at the last minute and applied for a 'Special Permit Hunt'; bull elk.  I did this to receive a point, in addition to my West side archery tag.  Now what the heck did I sign up for??  The only options I was able to place was for Lewis River and Siouxon units.  These are already open units during the general season anyway.  In trying to understand the regs, does this give you (2) tags if drawn?  One for your 'typical' unit, and one for the drawn unit?  Sheeit...

These units are not open during this tags hunt time. Nov. 24-dec. 7th is not open general. And no you will still only be able to harvest 1 animal.

Building quality points will get you some good opportunity down the road. Way down the road. I was'nt impressed with the options so I went with ghost points in some categores and applied in others. I'm building points either way..

So you put in for the archery permits? Like Hates Me said, those units are not open for general season. So with only 5 permits in each of those units, you will have a good hunt. Much better than any general season hunt. If you draw one of these hunts, what you have to realize is that you have drawn a "permit," not a tag. You only have the one tag you originally purchased. The permit simply allows you to use that tag in another area and/or at another time than if you were hunting the general season.

Did you apply for anything in the "Quality" category?

Bobcat, those (2) units are open during the early season, so this just extends my hunt for the late general season, correct?  Page 43 of the regs shows that Lewis river and Siuoxon are open Sep 7-19.  As far as Quality, I don't think so, but who knows?  I was pushin' buttons like a mad man

Yes, you are right. They are open for the general early archery season, but during that time you will have LOTS of company.  I think it would be good to draw the late hunt in one of these units, just because you will then have them mostly to yourself. Although late season can be tough when hunting just for bulls.
