It's essentially the D40 with a few more megapix. A good camera, but if you can afford a few extra $$, the D5000 would be a substantial upgrade from the D3000. I am saving for a D5000.

I've had the D5000 since December and I love it. Takes great pics and easy to use. I just need to figure out what larger zoom lens I should buy and save the money for it.
