String Suppressor????
« on: February 28, 2008, 09:28:00 AM »
Seems like alot of the new bows are coming equipped w/ String suppressors.  Anyone shot w/ 1 of these?  I think STS makes a version that will fit just about any bow.  Other than addin a few oz. to the bow I haven't heard any negatives about these.  Supposed to really dampen shock, quiet the bow, and almost eliminate all string slap.

What's the scoop?

I have been considering one too.  Though I do not get arm slap at all, I do get that loud "twang" from my bow.  Supposedly this will help and also pick up a little FPS.  My bow seems so slow, I can use all the help I can get.

I have put on my Hoyt. It has quieted the bow quite.

I don't know about picking up fps but it will certainly quiet your bow down! I have shot quite a few different bows with the equipped and they definetly make a difference on noise and arm slap.

I thought at first it would help with speed, just because of the way the arrow leaves the string. It tested my bow before and after putting one on and say 5-8 fps difference. Not enough to say that the sts did it.

So, I pulled the trigger and put a Fuse string tamer on my Hoyt.  All I can say is wow!  :o  Not only did it make it much more quiet, but my consistency has sky rocketed.  The bow shoots the same, everytime, as long as my form is correct.
Not sure I picked up any speed, but for just the above, it was worth every penny and more.
