I am new to the forum but drew the Alta rifle tag and have never hunted the area.  I would sure appreciate any advise on where to scout and then hunt for the Nov. 1 -19 dates.  Thanks

Mike

Hunt low, and where the does are. The bucks will be following the does as they migrate down.

My boss at work drew this tag along with the other 4 guys in his party including 1 nonresident.  Talk about lucky, the group of 5 got tags.

I drew with 2 points............Hope I still have some gas in the tank after 10 days in Colorado!

Damn dude...you might have had better luck than me in the draw this year...2 points, really?

Kelly if you want to come with us and shoot the pics. You could do a first hand write up. (and help pack some meat, hopefully)
It's not the size of the trophy that make's it a trophy.

You may just be one person in this world. But you may be the world to just one person.

Sounds like a plan. Let me know when you guys plan your first scouting trip. Oh, and send some of your drawing luck my way for next year!

Check out the thread a couple of years ago on Bone's Alta hunt.  Very instructive.  If I remember correctly, he started low and then worked higher and higher each day until he got into the migrators...  Good luck!
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
