Sean Elza in Hungary
« on: July 15, 2010, 12:36:57 PM »
Hello All!

I'm sorry it has taken me a couple days to be able to post! With 3 1/2 weeks of fundraising, I fell behind on the homestead and have been catching up!
I just wrote and put on pictures but when I went to post it said I had timed out. Is there something I can do to make sure that doesn't happen again. I am new to these boards, so please bare with me.

Sean is doing great!!! I know he has been able to post a bit here and there but I wanted to give you all an update and post a couple pics. Our only form of communication is through facebook chat and the time schedule has been challenging. I know he is exhausted when he returns from the course and to top it off is fighting a cold! (Or allergies...to all those darn mosquito's!) he is a trooper and never complains. He has shot many tournaments ill and it just amazes me!

There is now some decent postings at www.archery.org  It may bring you to the World Championships, if not, click on Visegrad. Due to the closed course, pics are taken by their photographers. I have only found two of Sean and neithe rare of him shooting. I hope they will take a few pics of the kid in the lead soon! You can also see the results, click on the LIVE link for the most current. The finals are suppose to be broadcasted. I think they will be on www.archery.tv  I will let you know tonight for sure! The only thing is it will be in the middle of the night for most of us!

I posted a couple pics but am afraid I am going to be timed out again!

WE are so grateful to all of you!

Here are a couple more pics of Sean and the area. He said it is beautiful but muggy and full of mosquito's!

He stated the opening ceremony was really fun. They put on a great show, showing some old, rare bows and techniques. I guess there was axe throwing and they picked a King, Queen and a Court Jester  to sit on the thrones. Sean was picked to be the court jester! He sat at the queens feet and watched the ceremony! Too cool! Hopefully, someone has a front view shot of him in this pic!

He says the water is awful and the bottled water tastes just as bad! Of course, I am worried he is going to get dehydrated. The word is... they give everyone, one 6 oz bottle with their meal and you have to buy the rest at a $1.50 a bottle! He said it took him 5 or 6 bottles to hydrate! I have to say..I feel more and more thankful to live in the land of decent water and free refills!  ;)

The t-shirt Sean is wearing is for a young man DK Ross. While having some summer fun with his family, was hit on American lake last summer and left for dead. He is alive but his life has been changed forever. His mother Gail is an amazing woman! She stopped by our carwash fundraiser and made a generous donation! Sean wears the shirt so he can take DK around Hungary with him! A trip he will never be able to make. You rock, Sean!

Once again, I just want to thank everyone for their support! This is the most amazing adventure ever!

Dam Sharmel, has he grown up.........  :archery_smiley:

I talked with him a few years ago at the school science fair for a few minutes and am happy to see he is doing so well, and is in to the archery big time. I was impressed with his science project, he worked hard on it

Hope you and Jeff are doing well also.  :hello:

As soon as I get organized today, I am going to send another $100.  Thats about 60 or so bottles of water.  Tell him to drink up.   :)

I'm not sure where to post this, as Sean is being sponsored by our Joshua Cup contest, but here is an update from his mother for you guys.  I'll secure the pics shortly.

Hi everyone!

These are some pics from the double elimination rounds today! At first he was up against this kid from Germany. The kid shot the best he has all week and they tied but Sean didn't shoot a 4 so he won. The next round was against his own teammate, Adam Gallant. He beat him by one point and won the spot going for GOLD! It will be broadcast on Sunday, our time, probably starting about midnight! I will let you know just when and where it will be on. I think it will be www.archery.tv and youtube (however it is spelled) I'm not sure about regular TV. I will find out.

Sean is shooting extremely well and feels good I He has been dealing with allergies or a cold but it isn't getting him down.

I am sooo proud of him! This is amazing!

Thanks to everyone that made this trip possible for him! This is the start of something REALLY big in the archery world for him! Thank you so much!

GREAT NEWS!  :archery_smiley:

Sean is going for GOLD on Sunday!

I'm trying to find out exactly where and when it will be broadcasted. I was told www.archery.tv and youtube but there is word that it will also be on a cable channel. It will probably air at midnight or a little later...uhg... but you know we will be watching! I will let you all know ASAP when and where it will be on.

Team rounds are tomorrow but unfortunately, the Junior men didn't have a recurve shooter that qualified so they will not be participating. Bummer... But...it will give him a day to rest up before the medal matches.

He is doing great! He is feeling good! I'm sure he will post when he returns to his room tonight. It was a long day but is getting to spend a little time with friends! I hope they get a little site seeing in!

Here's a couple more pics. You will see he now has his pack on. Looks like he is drinking something in that water to make it taste better!

I just can't say this enough...THaNk YoU!

"They" are talking about this unknown now!  :archer:  It is awesome! I am so proud of him but even more so happy that he gets to show everyone that he "IS" a damn good archer!

You can see results, etc..on www.archery.org
