Booked trip on Hula Girl out of Westport
« on: August 04, 2010, 11:24:15 AM »
I booked a trip out of Westport today for mid August. My Brother is comming out from Pennsylvania and wants a bottom fishing trip. I usually fish out of Ilwaco, but they seemed to be geard up for salmon during that time. I have never fished Westport, but am looking fotward to it. I read on here that a Hunt WA member really likes the Hula Girl so I asked for that boat. I sure want a Ling cod, any idea on chances in Aug to get one? I will post a pic of my bottom trip out of Ilwaco from june.

Let us know how it goes, my wife and me are talking about doing the same thing. Pics, lodging, how the guys on the boat are, how many people are on the boat.... It may be just the incentive we need to pull the trigger and go.  :)

I've not taken this trip, but knowing how guides work... if they are targeting ling cod they will likely get you into ling cod. the question will be size.

good luck and have fun  ;)

Nice look'en salmon! The boat we are going on is full, we took the last 4 spots, for a total of 24. We are finding that hotels are a lot more expensive that when we fish Ilwaco. The cost was so much more we thought of cancelling and booking out of Ilwaco. We found a cabin for $160 a night and decided to go with that and split it between my wife and I and my brother and his wife. The cabin has two bed rooms and a good view of the ocean. So all is well.
