Hi folks, was wondering if someone could explain something to me.

I am in the process of picking up a Glock 23 Generation 3.  The 23 is chambered for  a .40 S&W round.

I understand I can buy a barrel that will convert it to a 357 Sig.  I am a bit confused on the process.  Is it just a matter of removing the 40 cal barrel and putting in a 357 sig barrel?  Are there different kinds of barrels?  For example, I see drop in, and semi drop in barrels, what is the difference?  What about the magazine, will the 40 cal mags hold 357 sig shells?

Lastly, are storm lake barrels good barrels?  I saw they had a ported barrel for 175 on their web site – the same price as Brownells…  Are there better barrels or cheaper places to find them?

Sorry for all the questions, any info would be appreciated.  (first Glock for me)

it is as easy as field strip and reassemble on a drop in.....providing the spring rate requirements are the same and using a drop in barrel. if doing a semi, it will possibly need some fitting to get it to feed right. the semi will likely be a fully supported barrel where the stocker is not. if you look at the bottom of the barrel you will see that the feed ramp area leaves the case exposed. that is fine for standard pressure loads, but loading 2 times with +p could be dissastrous if it pops a case.....ad it has happed more then once, although not common.
