Browning Whitetail bow. Who knows anything about it?
« on: August 19, 2010, 07:25:05 PM »
My dad says it's really old.  50-70lb compound.  Anyone know anything about it?

i had one for a few years as a bowfishing bow. it was very loud and with a bow that old a lot of vibration as well. worked for killing carp just fine. :IBCOOL:

Anyway to quiet it down and lose the vibration?  Seems like it's so old it doesn't have ports for anti vibe attachments.  Hell, I have to tap it to get a pin sight on it.

:chuckle: yeah the make stick on limb savers that will help alot i have a set on about every bow i own. i call them toads, they look like mushroms you might have seen them before. also they make small ones you can put in your stirng they will all add a little weight and slow down your arrow a little bit but well worth it to get the shock out of that beast :chuckle:

OK, I just picked this up and it's nowheres near as bad as my dad let on.  First of all, it's a Bear Whitetail Hunter, not Browning.  It's old.  It's heavy.  It's naked.  But it looks good.  60# draw weight.  Added the peep sight.  Installed the pin sight, didn't need to tap it like he said either.  It has a screw port for a limbsaver as well as a string guard.  And it came with 6 Easton Gamegetter II 2315 Lite 29" aluminum arrows and broadheads of an undetermined brand.  Needs the limbsaver, string guard, and an arrow rest.  Nice starter bow.

It is set at 30" draw length though and I'd like it at 28".  How do I do this?

I thought it might be a Bear bow.  Those Bear Whitetails back in the 80s were like the old .30-.30s, killed more deer then all the other ones put together.  It used to be a great entry level bow.  Those bows have killed ALOT of game over the years.
