My guess is they would have received a lot more flack if they would have simply jacked up the prices. With the new system, the guys that want more opportunity pay more (e.g. you and me), and the guys who just want their second deer tag each year (e.g., my dad) keep paying the same amount. That seems fair to me.
Sounds good, but they could have generated just as much, if not more, revenue by simply doubling the application fee, rather than making the draw system unneseccarily complicated as they did. Not to mention, how much money would they have saved by not having to design and implement an entirely new system with all the additional categories? It's ridiculous...we went from 1 deer category to 8, and from 1 elk category to 7.
