Moses Coulee muzzleloader permit
« on: March 14, 2008, 02:09:53 PM »
I usall bypass this permit ,hoping to get drawn for the Desert tag, so far not so good. Im thinking about putting in for this one this year and see how it goes. My question is how much land is public and do the landowners out there offer access to hunt without buying into a lease? I know they have some nice bucks out there but Ive never hunted deer in that area. Not looking for someones back yard, just abit of information. Any and all would be appreciated.

 Thanks, Sage

There is a big chunk of BLM ground in that unit that I've hunted for chukar and I've seen some private land posted with the "hunting with written permission" signs. That's about all I know. I think it would be a tough hunt.

A friend of mine shot a spike out there two years ago during the permit hunt, but that is all i know about that area.  they only had a day to hunt though and didnt do much scouting..

We talked to a muzzleloader hunter while we were chukar hunting one year.  He wasn't seeing anything.........of course he could have done better if we weren't running all over the hillside chasing them  :bash:  >:( birds.   :chuckle:
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

there is quite a bit of "walk-in hunting" and "hunting by written permission only land" and there are some decent bucks running around out there but dont expect anything much over a 150 class buck
