No wonder you never see any elk you hang out with Pathfinder101.  He's old, slow and never leaves the road.  That's why he hunts the Blues, there's lots of roads and the Blues are really flat.  Not very steep at all.    :chuckle:

Thanks for the shout-out Colockum :chuckle:  Oh, by the way, I almost shot an elk in your old stomping grounds this morning.  While I was at drill.  No kidding.  When I get the pictures back from the guy who was with me, I'll post the story on another thread.  Oh, and by the way, I saw a 370 bull in there (didn't get a pic of that one though).  Go gettim' guys...

Anytime brother :)  Were you at YTC or in the Colockum.  Speaking of YTC has anyone seen that picture of the black bear shot at YTC???

I was drawn for the 2010 Incintive Tag. Pretty much i get to hunt in Eastern Wa for elk. The rules are i can hunt any general season with that weapon. But the best part is i can hunt and special permit season i want and as many as i want with what ever weapon i choose. SO!
Any ideas on where im going to find the biggest bull!

i agree with bobcat, if i had that tag i would do the same thing. i don't know 1/4 of the east side units let alone the whole state. now if it is a special permit they put in for. and have never even been in the unit. then that is what you said would come into mind

I know what I would do if I had that tag. Call mtcook that outfits in the Blues and have him pack you into his area as soon as the rifle rut tag is done and you will kill a monster bull. Better yet pay for his guided hunt and I will go with you and the three 380 plus bulls we played with last week can't be far from where they were! nwhunter

I can only hunt seasons that are open, such as any special permit seasons or general seasons.

keep reading, I'm 99% sure thats not correct. You might send Thenewguy on here a pm and ask him. He had one last year.

Jackelope is correct. You can hunt anytime with any weapon. I had the deer version of that tag last year. Pm me if you want the specifics

I'd be figuring out somewhere to hunt after archery season ends on September 19th, and before muzzleloader season opens on October 2nd. That's 12 days of prime time elk hunting, with no general seasons going on. I can't imagine a better time of the year to be elk hunting, and this is with a rifle!

I still think that you may have received the incorrect information. As previously stated you can hunt any unit open to general or permit seasons as per previous posts. Also, see below for a copy of page 13 of the regulations.

Incentive Permit Drawing for Early Reporting
Hunters who report harvest within 10 days of killing an animal or by January 10, if unsuccessful, will
be entered into a drawing for a special incentive permit. The nine special permits include two any elk
permits for western Washington, two any elk permits for eastern Washington, and five statewide any
deer permits. If your special permit hunting season extends beyond January 31, you will be included
in the incentive drawing if you make a report within 10 days of the close of that season. The incentive
drawing is usually held in April.
Incentive Permit Season
Incentive permits are valid for areas open to general hunting seasons or special permit hunting seasons.
The hunt dates are September 1 through December 31. The permits require a hunter to use archery
equipment during archery season, muzzleloader equipment during muzzleloader season, and any legal
weapon at other times if there are no firearm restrictions.
