rest assured, I wasn't practicing catch and release on this one.  I've got more respect for these little guys than I do a wolf pack.  having experienced one of their bites, its not something I want to revisit

 Do you know of anyone who has been bitten by one over there Doug? I'm wondering how bad a bite they have, I've never heard of a fatality, but I know it's pretty bad. We had tarantulas in Oklahoma, they looked fierce but the bite was mild, like a bee sting.

Unless you are sensitive a widow should not be worse than a bad case of the flu. The ones I am scared of are hobo & recluse. Nothing like necrosis of body parts to make your day.

I used to leave my pants & shirt right next to the bed on the floor! No more. Went to throw the pants on one morning when a BIG recluse dropped out of one pant leg!!!!!! Clothes get hung up every night and all foot gear gets a thorough banging and shaking before my feet slide inside.

We have hobos by the hundreds......they leave a necrosing sore usually.   I got bit by a widow a year or two ago.  I about lost my finger, it turned black and looked like it was going to rot off.   It was the worst stomache cramps I have ever had.  It was pretty aweful.   I was pulling the wifes snowtires out of the top of the garage.  Now I wear gloves.

Spiders are really bad this year, I have killed thousands! I even found one of these nasty black widows in my garage here on the wetside, it joined it's dead cousins quickly...Inside my Shop-vac , for those of you with the willies you can rest easy now! I killed Gigantor: king of all the spiders here at my house about 6 weeks ago, no idea what kind but I decided it was too huge to live. It did exit a funnel shaped web though...

I love spiders, they're awesome! Great subject...my rose haired trantula is jealous, as he sits right by the computer and I am checking out another spider....

Spiders I like to keep around the outside of the house are wolf spiders & cat eared spiders. They both are very useful. Cat eared eat a lot of insects and the wolf eats any thing it can bite including other spiders.

 When we were kids in Oklahoma we used to pour water down the spider holes and they would float to the top, we'd jar them up and sell them to tourist's instead of lemonade . We get Hobo's here too, I had to tear down a wooden shed I built because they were nesting in it, they really disappeared after that. My wife heard about Hobo's and was freaked out when I told her we had them, she said "what do they look like". I walked out back, turned over a rock, flattened one and brought it in and said -like that, only a little taller.
