Has anyone tried ratteling in blacktail during the rut, or is it only effective for whitetail?

Yep it works.....I have even had does come in while rattling...it's like yelling FIGHT at the school yard, everyone comes running!!

i called in a nice 4x4 in the entiat before it was permit. he came in fast, nose down and of course my bow had to mess up

Our camp has had mixed results for Blacktails. One of the biggest blackies I've seen not breathing came in to my buddy on a run while he rattled.
