13 Days befor opener deer Ya ready
« on: September 13, 2010, 08:43:36 AM »
I'm all sighted in at 50, 100, 150 and 200. Been scouting for the last 2 mouths and I have him picked out.
How is every one else doing?

I've been scouting all summer, but these blacktail bucks are getting harder to find. Lately, we're not having much luck getting anything on the trail cameras except does, and bears. Gonna hit it hard though, got 9 days to hunt.

With my muzzleloader, I'm only confident to 100 yards. If everything is perfect, I would take a shot out to 125 yards. You must have better eyes than me.

My rifle is sighted in at 120 yards, 4” high @ 75y and 4” low @ 150y.  At 200y it’s anywhere from 16” to 24” low.

But 150y, is plenty long enough and I won’t shoot beyond that.  Where I’ll be hunting is so thick I doubt if I’ll need to shoot beyond 50.  I don’t expect to see much during the early season but I’ll give it a go.

I'm just stoked to be hunting with my son this year (his first).  Got some nice animals on the trail cam so we will see.  I have to wonder if this is how my Dad felt when he took us boys out the first year.  We are going to have a full camp of hunters and none hunters alike so kills or not its going to be great!

I can't believe it's almost time! I hunted three years with my smokepole, then ended up tagging one last year in the rifle season with my shotgun. So, this year I'm going back to the muzzleloader season again and really hoping to make a kill with it! Actually, two kills, since I have a second deer permit. Looking forward to it!

Wishing everybody good luck this yr.I won't be hunting just got back to work after having shoulder surgery and being off for 7 months. Don't think they'll let me have the time off :-( to go hunting.

Besides I haven't even had the chance to sight my knight in after  putting peep sites on her.
So GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I archery elk hunted this year.  Doesn't seem right going after deer in the farmlands and pastures AFTER hitting the mountains for the elk.  Don't worry though....a buck and doe will be hitting the dirt this year thanks to the second deer tag.  Just a matter of getting er done.... :chuckle:

Your not the only one. I put a Williams Peep on my TC in April and have yet to go shoot it. I need to get my butt in gear.

Sighted in at 100 yds. Still debating the first days hunt area. Little different this year after the change to buck only. Just gonna work a little harder to put some meat on the table.

Side Note: not trying to thread jack here, but I have a general 2010 MZ season question. WTF happened to the MICA PEAK 127 GMU. No muzzleloader at all this year? I just noticed this today. :dunno:

For deer I'm trying a new area this year.  I just discovered it during the bear season and very optimistic about this unit.  Hopefully it'll pay off.

7 days away...this upcoming work week is going to be hell to get through  :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:

I've been archery hunting elk and haven't been able to shoot my muzzleloader the last couple of weeks. I was shooting pretty consistently this summer and will take a day off from work this coming week to do some last minute shooting.  I'll keep my gear packed up from elk hunting and swap out my forest camo for some desert wear.   :)

Pretty stoked that next weekend I can get in the woods and look for the elusive and wily blacktail, hopefully with some luck at the end.  Good luck to all on the upcoming season.  Can't wait to hear the stories and see the pictures. :)

I'm not very ready... :(

But then I'm not going to be able to make it for the early season.  I've got a special late tag for the first week of December, though.  So I've got some time.

:IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:Just 3 days of work left and the days are dragging.  I'm taking vacation time the next two week to hopefully knock down both a deer and Elk.  And I get paid Friday so that should give me more $$ for gas and other expenses.

Good luck to all!!  I'm looking foward to all of your stories and don't for get the camera for we will all be looking for photos!! :IBCOOL:

ready to go.  I was drawn for the late alta permit.  I am going to be pretty picky.  I have seen several nice bucks all year. not enough to want to kill. Your tipical 20-25 inch range.  Not enough to warrent shooting with the late tag coming.  Untill last night I saw the one I am going after.  Got me excited ;).  good luck to all.

Holy crap Jelly!
Where'd you get that bull at?  Obviously I'm not asking for your secret spot.  NW, NE, SW?  Looks like a pretty deep and dark forest where ever it was.
